Massage therapy is one of the oldest treatments used by mankind. It stimulates blood flow, soothes muscles and relieves pain. It can be used as a relaxing form of therapy to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as to treat injuries to muscles such as strains or tears.

Remedial Sports and Deep Tissue Massage

Intensive sporting activities can result in discomfort and tightness in the glutes and hamstrings. Chronic headaches and general discomfort can often be stress related or a consequence of sitting at a desk all day. Massage treatment can focus on alleviating these concerns by reducing the build-up of tight and sore muscles in the back, neck, shoulders and joints.

Specialised techniques focus on the relief of tightness in the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. A sports masseuse uses deep, slow strokes and pressure point therapy on the contracted areas, either following or going across the muscle fibres, tendons and fascia. Remedial and deep tissue massage therapists concentrate on the more specific tension areas and work at a pressure that is both therapeutic and comfortable for the client.

After an initial assessment, a therapist will base your treatment on identified problematic areas. Stretches may also be required following the massage.

Swedish / Relaxing Massage

Swedish massage involves a combination of five basic strokes and concentrates on the muscles and connective tissues of the body for improved circulation, relaxation, pain relief and overall health and wellbeing. Relaxation is the primary goal and during a one hour consultation, a full body massage can be achieved.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy uses fragrances and essences from plants to affect or alter a client’s mood or behaviour and can help to facilitate physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Aromatic plant oils work by helping the body to relax or to stimulate and reinforce its own natural healing process. Using a combination of pressure points and relaxing effleurage movements, this treatment will leave you with a feeling of absolute bliss.
